    Day 1 Ngorongoro Crater On the first place, the witness of the presence of volcanic caldera (Largest in the world), a mixture of flora and fauna and also presence of permanent water in the crater floor that makes and sustain lives of more than 25,000 mammals and reptiles. Here you must expect to see Black rhino since their shelters are at the floor of the crater. Many other mammals like leopard, hyena, Wallowing hippo, waterbuck, Elephants, lion, hyena, Jackal, baboons and many more. Ngorongoro is in fact the home of the BIG FIVE in the world. Further Ngorongoro is far more unique as it is defined as a multiple usage area where the indigenous people, the visitors and the wildlife are protected. Amazingly, wildlife live together with livestock and other domestic animals. Later afternoon, we will drive back to Arusha for drop off. You will be picked up at Kilimanjaro International Air-port or Arusha Air-Port.

    We booked this tour with the Serengeti Safari Booking. Ngorongoro Crater: Our safari guide named Simba made the one day trip a very memorable and fun filled experience. He was very informative and kept us eagerly looking for more and more as he filled us in about the history of the parks and interesting stories about different animals. He could mimic the different animal noises and it was so much fun watching as the animals responded accordingly! He taught us quite a bit of swahili along the way as well. A vacation of a lifetime!

    My trip into Ngorongoro Crater was part of a 13 day Tanzania safari booked through Road Scholar and run by Carnivores Safaris which is based in Arusha. The crater visit was wonderful and one of the highlights of this fantastic trip. The 100 square kilometer crater is beautiful and has an abundance of animals living within it. We watched a pride of lions, herds of wildebeest and zebras, baboons, hippos and lots of gazelles. A great variety of birds as well. About the only major animal that is not in the Ngorongoro crater is the giraffe - but we did see them on the way to the crater.. this area of Tanzania is not to be missed!
