This is a wine tour to discover the real Monferrato: one of the most evocative areas of Piedmont, rich in history and great wines. The first stop will be a small organic cellar in the area where you will have the opportunity to meet the producer who will guide you in the discovery of his cellar, its wines and its history. After the first visit, I will take you to a restaurant in the area that I have selected where you can discover typical dishes of the renowned Piedmontese gastronomy. After a relaxing lunch break we will leave for another family winery where you will taste other important native wines such as Barbera, Moscato, Freisa, Grignolino. Throughout the journey we will be able to travel along panoramic roads and I will show you some of the most beautiful and fascinating corners of Monferrato. Furthermore, there will be time to introduce you to the main productions of the region, I will tell you about the main denominations and the various native and historical vines grown here.

Nicola was well versed in wine tasting and brought us to multiple small wineries. We tried many rare and unique tasting wines.

We were looking for a local and well informed guide to help us discover some smaller organic wine producers in the lesser known villages around Asti, and we found Nicola here on TripAdvisor. Nicola prepared a customised itinerary to meet our needs and communicated that with us in advance so that we could see where we were going to go and which producers we were going to meet. Nicola picked us up by our apartment in Asti and took us north to visit and taste at 2 x organic producers both of whom were passionate and innovative with the wines that they are creating. We learnt so much from Nicola about the lesser known (to us anyway !) local grape varieties and tasted many of them during the course of the day. Nicola was brought up in the area and can provide detailed insights that other guides may not be in a position to deliver. It was a very relaxing and enjoyable experience, we can thoroughly and unreservedly recommend a day out with Nicola.
