    On our boat Orient we drove down the nile in a fashion thatt could have made Isis and Osiris jealous. The Dahabyja accomodates only nine people so the tour is very private and familiar. With Mohsen El Sayed we had an excellent guide, a stuided Egyptologist whose English is really refined. The crew was very nice and the cook was really fantastic. It is not at last very easy to communicate with Djed, eg. Asmaa Saad handled my booking very fast in Cairo and Luxor branch manager Osama helped us handling many things once in Luxor. The ship will be overhauled this summer, so the little bit outdated cabins will become more modern soon. For those who really want to sail with a sail the preferred direction is from Luxor to Aswan. We might do the trip again!

    We spent 3 nights on the dahabiya cruise ship The Orient, owned by tour operatorDjed Travel.It was the high light of our cultural Egypt trip. Sailing down the Nile so slowly on the intimate and quiet sailing ship, with very nice food included, was so relaxing after the huzzle and buzzle in Cairo. The boat could have maximum 10 guests but we were only four, so the boat felt like our private yacht. Nice and attentive crew. During the trip we stopped twice a day to visit temples, a quarry, villages etc together with our excellent guide Muhammad who also answered all our questions on Egypt history, modern every day life in the country... we booked the trip online and it worked perfect, very professional from booking to transfer and the whole cruise. So much more closer the river and the life in it than on the larger motor driven cruisers. More expensive but the Orient is price worthy. I really recommend it (but don’t start the journey with it).
