Dimitris was very helpful and knowledgeable. For context, I haven't dived for a few years and have a relatively unused advanced open water cert. Dimitris was great at helping me refresh my knowledge and theoretical foundation.
He provided all the equipment we needed, as well as transportation between the Nea Makri bus station, dive shop, and dive site.
Despite conditions being somewhat adverse, he used his knowledge of local topography to find a launch point for our shore dive that was sheltered from wind and waves, and we had a terrific time. We were able to see a decent variety of sea life during both of our dives, and I had a great time relearning buoyancy control, technical aspects of the equipment, and how to swim with fins.
I had decent oxygen conservation (obviously his is much better), and to his credit Dimitris didn't end the dive early to meet a timetable. He instead continued guiding me until my air reached the threshold we'd agreed on before starting our return.
Dimitris' dives are priced *very* affordably, and I thoroughly recommend the experience. I'd like to do a deep dive off a boat with him if I'm in Athens again.
Compared to other diving options in Athens, the only potentially dissuading factor is getting to Dimitris' dive shop from Athens.
It's quite easy, however. You catch the metro to Nomismatokopia (~10 minutes from Acropolis), and from there you catch the KTEL bus to Nea Makri (~45 minutes with traffic). In total, the one-way trip costs ~$4.50.
