This was our second culinary backstreets tour in Athens. I debated between a 4 and 5 rating. Our guide was very good and it was a very interesting tour with a lot of background information. This was an area of town that I doubt many tourists explore. There was plenty of food and drink. Most of our stops were excellent - fresh juice stand, a bakery and a wonderful deli. The two stops with multiple dishes at restaurants were okay. The coffee stop had a good explanation of the process for making the coffee but we’ve had better elsewhere. It was nice to get to try the different versions of the Greek grappa type drink. The wine place at the end was quite interesting but 3 soso wines at the end of the tour after lots of liquor during the tour was not a good ending. We thought the backstreet plaka tour was better.

Constantine was an absolute delight. He was gracious, caring, very food and culture knowledgeable. He made us feel like we were his special guests. During these times I also wanted to point out that Constantine was very food safety conscious. The varied and carefully selected choices of restaurants, food shops, specialty food stops and the many, many items we sampled at these locations were beyond my wildest dreams! I’ve been wanting to go on a Culinary Backstreets tour and they will absolutely be my first choice for the future. Their tours are an excellent value given the number of stops, varied amount of food and expert guide.

We had the most fabulous afternoon with Kiki, great information, great food, great company! We learned so much from our ‘backstreets’ tour about the people of Athens and their lives - a unique and unforgettable experience!
