It is about 6 kilometers long and the narrowest point is where the Corinth Canal was built (1880-1893). It was a strategic point and for this reason a wall had already been built since ancient times (end of the 5th century BC), which had been preserved until the Byzantines (Hexamilion).

They were restored on a global basis in 1894 in honor of the ideal of peaceful international contention for excellence.

    In the western Peloponnese, in the beautiful valley of the Alpheios river, lies the most celebrated sanctuary of ancient Greece. Our driver, Bledi, went over and above to show us the sights, to fulfill our interests, and to improve our knowledge of the archeological sites. He was very attentive to our comfort and drove in a very professional manner. He even went above and beyond helping us to find a Covid testing site.
