  • Kerameikos, Athens, Greece
    This is a place relatively unknown to tourists even though it is one of the most important landmarks. Kerameikos means “ceramic”. It was called like that because there were many ceramic workshops here. It was also the cemetery of Athens for many centuries. In this place many prominent Athenians whose name are famous, were buried here! This is also where Pericles pronounced his famous “Epitaph” speech for the first casualties of the Peloponnesian war where he praises the virtues of Democracy and the ways of the Athenians.

Excellent experience with a brilliant tour guide! We are so grateful for Panos for sharing all of his wisdom as we walked along the historical counterparts to each story. From the Trojan War to Theseus, to Pythagoras to the first computers, you will be inspired by every detail - and will be rewarded with a brilliant sunset view!

My family (aged 13-53) began our tour by learning that Theseus was a great Greek hero, but truly? Our tour guide Panos was the hero of our trip! What a gift to spend a few hours learning about all aspects of Ancient Greek mythology, philosophy and science while walking by the corresponding historical artifacts. Our walk through the city was so illuminating, and gave us tremendous insights so that we could better understand everything from the Trojan War to Pythagoras to the first computers. Definitely recommend this tour for adults and inquisitive teens who love Ancient Greece- thank you, Panos!

Absolutely amazing tour! He was really kind and truly knew a lot about history, mythology, science, and culture. We can tell he does this because he loves it, and he took us to wonderful places and told great stories with grace and humor. We went with a non-fluent English speaker and he was very patient, making sure they could understand everything. He also took us to a beautiful place to watch the sunset! Absolutely recommend!!
