Parthenon, Athens, Greece The Parthenon is a former temple on the Athenian Acropolis dedicated to the goddess Athena, whom the people of Athens considered their patroness. Construction started in 447 BC when the Delian League was at the peak of its power. It was completed in 438 BC, although decoration of the building continued until 432 BC. It is the most important surviving building of Classical Greece, generally considered the zenith of the Doric order. 90 minutes
Temple of Olympian Zeus, Athens, Greece The Temple of Olympian Zeus also known as the Olympieion or Columns of the Olympian Zeus, is a former colossal temple at the center of the Greek capital Athens. It was dedicated to "Olympian" Zeus, a name originating from his position as head of the Olympian gods. Construction began in the 6th century BC during the rule of the Athenian tyrants, who envisaged building the greatest temple in the ancient world, but it was not completed until the reign of the Roman Emperor Hadrian in the 2nd century AD, some 638 years after the project had begun. During the Roman period the temple, which included 104 colossal columns, was renowned as the largest temple in Greece and housed one of the largest cult statues in the ancient world. 30 minutes
Kallimarmaro, Athens, Greece The Panathenaic Stadium or Kallimarmaro, is a multi-purpose stadium in Athens, Greece. One of the main historic attractions of Athens, it is the only stadium in the world built entirely of marble. 30 minutes

My driver Garasinis was so pleasant and professional! He first explained to me the places we were going to visit and gave me some brief history of these locations. Since we connected via WhatsApp, communication was so easy when I was visiting the sites and had questions or was ready to be picked up. I got a little lost when exiting Acropolis so he really worked hard to ensure we found each other in the most timely manner.
One lovely surprise was seeing a church on the highest point of Athens! I don't recall the name but it is a beautiful small church with the iconic blue and white exterior. Inside is very beautiful as well. If you go here, do not buy a ticket. The church entry is free. I made the mistake of buying a ticket from the machine (fortunately only 6 Euros), thinking this was required for the church entry but it is in fact, for the cable car. The cable car is not necessary if you do this tour because your driver will be waiting for you at the bottom of the stairs (where you get dropped off). There is no one working around the ticket machine to explain what the ticket is actually for or how the church entrance is free (frustrating ????) but trust my advice and trust your driver who is quite knowledgeable.
I think Acropolis has to be the highlight of the tour. Since I spent about 2 hours at the Acropolis itself, I didn't have time for the museum but I didn't care! Why see the museum when you can enjoy the real thing?!
Unfortunately entry isn't permitted inside Zappeio nor Temple of Zeus but at least you can take pictures from outside. I also took pictures from outside the Olympic stadium ????️, where the first Olympic games were played. Garasinis was more than happy to take pictures for me! Selfies are great but sometimes you need a better and bigger view. Garasinis didn't accompany me to any of the sites except the Olympic stadium but I was ok with that. If you're traveling alone and want company, I recommend doing a big bus group tour. But if you're an independent solo traveler, or with a small group, and want flexibility but assurance you'll be taken care of, this private tour is the way to go!
