    After traveling for a few kilometres through the South Coast and the Athenian Riviera, you will be bedazzled by the famous landscapes which surround Sounion. Sounion (or Sunium) was an important ancient Greek religious sanctuary dedicated to the gods Poseidon and Athena. Spectacularly located on a promontory in southern Attica, the site is dominated by the temple of Poseidon perched 70 meters above the sea on the cliff edge. Sounion is the setting for several episodes in Greek mythology, and is specifically mentioned as a place of religious significance in Homer’s Odyssey. In some myths, this is also the spot where the Athenian king Aegeus threw himself into the sea in despair upon having sighted the black sail of his son Theseus’ ship returning from Crete after his battle with the Minotaur.

Nous avons passé une fin d’après-midi magnifique ! Le chauffeur nous a emmené dans des endroits magnifique. Il s’arrêtait quand on voulait pour prendre des photos. Nous avons eu tout notre temps pour voir le temple Poséidon avant que les autres bus n’arrivent. Nous avons pu manger tranquillement en regardant le coucher du soleil. Je recommande vraiment cette activité.

Chauffeur très agréable. Cette activité permet de découvrir le sud d’Athènes avec ses plages avant d’arriver au cap sunion avec le temple de poseidon magnifique au coucher de soleil

Best time ever with George. Took us to a fabulous restaurant by the sea for fresh fish! George was friendly, knowledgeable, and was present when we needed him, and disappeared when we didnt. Enjoyed trading stories of daring dos and life in Greece. Very flexible when we pulled an audible to get dinner after buying tickets so we didn’t have to sit around at Poseidon temple. George and I are such good friends now he told me he’d pay for my seaside villa near Athens. Amazing! I’m also appreciative of the fact he’s going to also buy me a yacht for sailing around the coast! You are too kind George! Book it! You’ll enjoy the tour and views of Poseidon at sunset…
