We had problems with being picked up from our hotel. The instructions given to us were not clear and at one point were completely wrong, and we ended up waiting 40 minutes for pickup. However, once we got on the tour, the bus driver, Hannah, was lovely and the tour was very well managed. Other than the hotel pickup issue, I would highly recommend it.

They just run and very on time, they won’t wait for you at all. The driver let us in Matamata 3 min before deadline and we have to take a 50$ taxi to reach the group. I couldn’t even enjoy my beer at the end of tour cause it was a very rush tour. I always enjoy yours, but this one was too difficult!

Hobbiton a not to be missed tour, even if you’ve not watched Lord of the Rings. Picked up at hotel and taken to local bus station and met by our coach driver. The driver was very informative about New Zealand. We stopped for lunch in Matamata, quaint little place, lots of places to eat and drink, would recommend Ronnies bakery. We then proceeded to Hobbiton. The Hobbiton tour is very well organised our guide Kate was extremely enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the film set and Lord of the Rings. The Hobbiton set is amazing, beautifully maintained. At the end you have a welcome ale in the Green Dragon pub. The tour lasts about 2 hours, take some water and sunscreen with you it can get very hot. The tour can be quite strenuous particularly on a hot day , their are some narrow uphill pathways to negotiate. Remember to book for this tour as it can get very busy.
