Wednesday 9th July This trip was an incredible and obviously sad experience. It was very well organized by the Company we booked it with. We were picked up on time. The driver was very friendly. Sorry I didn’t have cash to tip him. The bus was a mini one and uncomfortable but nothing to complain about really after what we saw in Auschwitz and Birkenau Our guide there was exceptional. She told the story in a very measured, calm and respectful way. She was happy to answer questions and took her time with us. That was some feat when you consider the lashing rain. She should be congratulated!!!!

We went on the Auschwitz tour on a hot Wednesday. The tour itself was very interesting and our guide Robert had excellent knowledge of the history of Auschwitz. Some parts of it felt quite rushed. There was a lot to see, but frequently we were herded through rooms with no opportunity to read the exhibits or properly look at the pictures. At lunchtime, we were given just fifteen minutes to get some food and drinks. There were queues for the toilet which meant that we only had time to grab a snack from a machine. Given that the temperature outside was 33 degrees we would have welcomed time for a cold drink. The tour of Birkenau was cut short due to the heat, so we only had 45 minutes there instead of the planned 90. We’re not sure what we missed because of that.
