Ateshgah - Fire Temple, Baku, Azerbaijan Fire Temple of Baku(Ateshgah) is a castle-like religious temple in Surakhani town. The "Ateshgah" was a pilgrimage and philosophical centre of Zoroastrians from Northwestern Indian Subcontinent, who were involved in trade with the Caspian area via the famous "Grand Trunk Road". The temple was last restored in 1975. Today low, dark cells for monks and pilgrims in the Ateshgah Temple is an interesting museum, intended to introduce the rudiments of Zoroastrianism to the uninitiated. 50 minutes
Yanar Dag, Baku, Azerbaijan Burning Land is a natural gas fire which blazes continuously on a hillside on the Absheron Peninsula on the Caspian Sea near Baku. Flames jet into the air 3 metres (9.8 ft) from a thin, porous sandstone layer. Yanar Dag(Burning Land) flame was only noted when accidentally lit by a shepherd in the 1950s. 30 minutes

This tour was a great surprise, with lots of surprises that I am not going to mention to avoid spoiler adverts. Anyway, it's a must, and we were very pleased with the tour, the guide, and the attention throughout the journey.
