National car rental quotes a price of $32/day, taxes, fees and insurance included on Expedia. That’s for a Jeep “or similar SUV”. Then Expedia offers extra insurance for $11/day as I recall. In any case we were quoted $202 for 6 days. Then we got to the counter where they denied everything. Yes, car was $202 but no taxes, fees or insurance were included. They even said the Expedia insurance was worthless. They wanted $500 for 6 days but haggling got them down to $400 so only double what was quoted. They say that there’s no point in questioning why Mexican car rental is one of the biggest rip offs anywhere because the rental companies wrote all the laws. Mexico is the only country that denies accepting USA insurance or supplemental credit card insurance. I get really tired of haggling almost everything in Mexico. Actually it’s gotten to where I’m done going there. I’d rather pay a little more and avoid arguing with Spanish speaking people every day. I like Belize and English is the national language.
