    Batu Caves, complex of limestone grottoes in Peninsular Malaysia. The caves are one of the country’s biggest tourist attractions and are a place of pilgrimage for Tamil Hindus. They are named for the Sungai Batu (Batu River), which flows nearby, and are located 7 miles (13 km) north of Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia.The caves were little-known except to local residents until 1878, when the American naturalist William Temple Hornaday revealed their existence to the wider world. K. Thamboosamy Pillay, a leader of the Tamil Hindu community in Malaya (as the region was then called), built a temple within the caves in 1891. It is said that he took inspiration from the similarity in shape of the cave entrance to the tip of the vel, or spear, traditionally wielded by the deity Murugan. Thaipusam, the Tamil Hindu festival devoted to Murugan, was first celebrated on the site in 1892 and is now a major event that attracts hundreds of thousands of pilgrims annually.

    Sri Shakti Temple is reportedly the only temple in the world where manifestations of all 51 Shaktis are installed. Consciously interspersed within this space are 96 carved pillars that depict the 96 universal principles of Hinduism. Encircled by a huge decorative wall, entrance into the temple is via a magnificent Rajagopuram (multi-tiered main gateway shrine). Soaring to a height of 74 feet, the 5-tiered Raja Gopuram is a proud proclamation of the architectural treasures within. The temple’s main entrance comprises 18-foot high sculptured granite frames weighing up to 4 tonnes, carved by skilled craftsmen from the ancient city of Mahabalipuram in Tamilnadu, India. Other delightful granite sculptures include a lion with a freely moving ball in its mouth crafted from a single block of granite, life-like baby elephants and the elaborate steps within the temple which incorporate the Yali (a Hindu mythical being).

Zaidi is a brilliant driver. He has a Innova car with great luggage space and he keeps it very clean. I travelled with him as a family for 6 days and he has excellent knowledge of KL and day trips from KL. We went to kuala selangor for the monkeys and fireflies, Genting highlands, Melaka and tours within KL as well. He is very reasonable priced for the service and is super punctual, always 10-15 mins early. He even had to wait for 2 hours at the airport as out flight into KL got delayed. He was very relaxed about it and didnt even mention it. Cant fault him on anything. Such a gentle man and safe driver. I will definitely be using his services every time we visit KL. He can be contacted via his whatsapp and is very prompt with responses.

Vi havde hjemmefra bestilt Zaidi som chauffør for vores. tur til Malaysia. Han er et fantastisk menneske. Kommer som aftalt og er mere end blot en chauffør. Han viste os en masse på vores ture. Vi blev hentet i lufthavnen og kørt til vores første hotel - Pankor Laut. Han hentede os som aftalt - og på vejen til kuala Lumpur så vi en masse uden yderligere omkostninger. Vil klart anbefale ham hvis turen går til kuala Lumpur eller omegn. Kim og Anne
