I would definitely recommend this - from the start, top notch communication: I booked less than 12 hours before pickup and my hotel isn’t reachable by car which I was nervous about, but Yande got in touch right away to sort out a pickup spot, and then De Putro sent me a message morning of to confirm.
De Putro had everything under control, made additional suggestions (we went to do the jungle swing as well), and was flexible when I wanted to keep exploring the stream around Kanto Lampo waterfall. He also is happy to take a million photos and keeps providing suggestions for them too. As a solo traveller I particularly appreciated this, it’s nice to have memories with your face in them but I can get a bit self conscious to be always asking.
The waterfalls:
Tibumana: I think you can swim here, I didn’t, so quick trip to see it + photos. It’s lovely.
Kanto Lampo: stunning! Definitely recommend swimmers - De Putro took me down and grabbed one of the men working there who got me into the queue and then took the actual photos - suspect this is part of the deal for entry, you then tip them afterwards. It’s cool in the water with the occasional beam of sunlight. Quite commercial with the queue for photos but the waterfall is amazing and well worth it, plus you can wander upstream a ways to explore if you want a bit of peace.
Tukad Cepung: my favourite! There’s a couple waterfalls here although the big one is in a semi cave that opens up to the sky. Standing there with the water spray drifting upwards, beams of sun creating rainbows … magic. I had changed out of my swimmers for this. I ended up having to change dresses afterwards, so might be worth keeping them on and just changing after this one. There is a toilet you can change in, although a bit of a queue and smells much worse than the change room at Kanto Lampo.
Other:
Jungle swing: optional extra (cost 400k IDR, not included in tour price). Fun, it’s mainly for photos but one of the swings you’re soaring over the valley and can see Mt Agung in the distance … why not?
Coffee plantation: I’d spent all my money on the jungle swing so didn’t buy anything here, but part of the pitch is a tasting of coffee + herbal teas in a spot with a great view, and you get to see a luwak all for free, so why not.
Lunch: fine
Tegallalang rice terrace: can get some nice photos, a short stop. It wasn’t crowded (we were there late afternoon).
Overall, a wonderful day, waterfalls definitely the highlight, 100% recommend. Thanks for a great day out De Putro!
