Part of what makes this region so unique is the number of small family run brewpubs that dot the countryside. This particular area is blessed with great rural scenery which passes through some pretty small villages. The brewpubs are from another time, simple but of great value. Regional specialties like Geräuchertes (smoked ham) go perfectly with the the very much local brews, often served via gravity dispense by the brewer himself. These are beers you're not going to find back home and they'll have you pining for them once back there. There are a variety of routes so please inquire about the length of each. Note that this is a private tour and can be tailored to your group's needs.

  • Guided 10-mile hike (shorter version available) through an area fondlycalled Franconian Tuscany.
  • We will be stopping a number of small rural brewpubs and all food and beverages are at your own expense.

    Rich swept us away from the city into the serene Franconian countryside just outside Bamberg. I can't express enough appreciation of Rich's knowledge and friendliness. The cultural experience throughout the day was refreshing and wholesome. We look forward to another adventure and will certainly be in touch to engage in Rich's authentic guidance. Definitely bring enough cash if you want to pick up merch from the villages.

    I have travelled to Germany at least 25 times during my lifetime but the trip to Bamberg with Rich/BeerWanderers was one my best visits ever!!! This was my first visit to Bamberg and with BeerWanderers. What a beautiful city!! We signed up for a two day hiking tour with Rich. What a great experience it was hiking through the beautiful Franconia countryside from beer brewery to beer brewery ????. Not only was the beer exceptional but Rich also made great recommendations on all the food we ate and made the hotel arrangements for us. Having Rich and his knowledge with us made the entire experience so much fun! I can tell you that I will defintely be going back again in the very near future I highly recommend booking a tour with Rich.     This was our second tour with Beerwanderers. This time we opted for the two-day trip based out of Bamberg. After contacting Rich Carbonara, he recommended spending three nights in Bamberg, timing our arrival for the anstich (first tapping) of the Schlenkerla Urbock. The next day we had a wonderful, guided hike with Rich through the countryside enjoying the delicious food and beer at multiple breweries on the 13 brewery trail. Having such a great time on the first day of hiking, we were thrilled to have booked the two day tour so we could continue on a different portion of the 13 brewery trail. It was such a nice experience to work with someone so knowledgeable of beer, food, and the local area. Rich even made the hotel arrangements for us, which was a big help, since we were not familiar with Bamberg. Note that you can also converse with Rich and book trips directly on the Beerwanderers website.
