A fantastic tour but I was left underwhelmed by the guides lack of knowledge and English skills. Tours like this are in essence a history lesson whictfell a little flat. The guide was a lovely lady nonetheless but it was a little disappointing. It is a long day and be ready for up to 7 hours in your vehicle. We were caught in the traffic coming back into Bangkok which turned the return journey from 3 to 5 hours.

For our Bangkok Kanchanaburi Historical Tour, my brother and I asked for a customized schedule where we would meet the tour operator at the first stop in Kanchanaburi. We were already in the city and planned to spend the next part of our trip in Bangkok anyway. They were 100% accommodating and even offered us a discount because we had no pickup required.
The tour guide was super professional and fluent in English. I learned new Thai words and phrases. As a Thai language-learner, this was a wonderful benefit. She bought us a variety bag of fried banana chips to munch on too!
The driver got us back to Bangkok at 6pm on the dot. He navigated the notorious traffic like a pro.

If you are interested in immersing yourself in the history of the Thai- Burma (Death Railway) this is the trip to for you.
A lot of other trips offer various combinations, but I felt this was the only one that included everything i wanted to see and concentrated on the whole theme.
It is a very humbling tour when you think that more than 12,000 Allied prisoners of war (POWs) and tens of thousands forced labourers perished during its 16 month construction between 15 September 1942 and December 1943.
The Bridge on the River Kwai has become very touristy with lots of stalls nearby, but Hellfire Pass was less so.
This trip doesn't include a train ride (which we weren't bothered about as it is only a tourist train) but we did time it just right to take a photo of the train going over the Thamkrasae bridge.
Our guide, Snake, was very knowledgeable and spoke good English.
It is a long day (06.15 - 17.30) as it is quite a distance from Bangkok but well worth it. Highly recommended.
