The day consists of exclusive visits and tastings at privately hosted venues that showcase the wide and balanced variety of the wines that make the Priorat region such a world-renowned success. Depending on the day, lunch is a carefully paired tasting menu that is either hosted at one of the wineries or at a local traditional restaurant showcasing local wines. Priorat Wine tours provide an excellent opportunity to add some amazing wines to your personal wine collection that would be otherwise very difficult and/or expensive to acquire from outside the Priorat or Spain.

    Enjoy a wine tasting out in the fields, weather permitting, with amazing views from the hill. Learn about this boutique winery's processes and wines.

  • Clos Figueras, Gratallops, Spain
    Clos Figueras is the second out of the three excellent wineries you will visit during this day trip. On your way from Barcelona to Priorat, as you pass eye-catching terraces of vines that are carved into the hillsides, listen to an orientation of the area from your guide. Tellingly expensive, the rich and full-bodied produce of the area has been subject to harsh growing conditions and labour-intensive harvesting; the grapes are mostly picked by hand. After visiting visit a small local winery to sample your first three Priorat varietals of the day, we will head to Clos Figueres winery, run by Christopher Cannan, a pioneering Priorat winemaker. Learn how the wine is produced by grapes from old vines, without the use of insecticides or other products, and recharge with a traditional 3-course lunch, paired with their wines.

  • Clos Dominic S.L., Porrera, Spain
    In the afternoon, travel onward to the tiny village of Porrera where the family-run Clos Dominic winery awaits. Meet Paco Castillo-Serrano who runs the estate, and tour his unique old-vine vineyard before tasting a few vintage samples. Finally, relax on the journey back to Barcelona, and finish your day with a drop-off at the start point.

Anthony was a highly knowledgeable and enthusiastic tour guide; he drove us through narrow and windy roads, up to the beautiful vineyards of Priorat, where we visited 3 wineries, each with a distinct style, and learned about the broader region, its unique terroir, and tasted a slew of outstanding wines from the producers themselves. A highlight of the trip and a must-do for any wine lover.

Our day trip with Anthony was infinitely better than we could have imagined! His selections for our activities, knowledge of the wine region, and jovial demeanor made it for the best way to visit Priorat! Highly recommend this tour to any and all ages if you enjoy wine and are looking to get out of the city. The three stops were equally educational, had their own charm, and of course the wine was delicious! Anthony guided us through the whole day taking the guess work out of visiting a new country and region. He was even so kind to give us recommendations for a day trip later in our vacation and nearby attractions to visit. During the stop for lunch, he taught us how to make tomato bread which quickly became a favorite to order the rest of our trip. It is a Catalan tradition we are excited to carry on at home and share with friends! If you are on the fence about using Anthony or Spanish Trails, book your reservation now.
