    Visit the Basilica of Montserrat, house of the serene image of the Virgin of Montserrat, the patron saint of Catalonia, a polychrome Romanesque carving dating from the 12th century. The legend says that in the year 880 some shepherd boys found a statue of the black madonna, the "Moreneta", in a grotto. A chapel was built on this site that soon became a place of pilgrimage.

    Since the funicular that brings you to this holy place is under revision, we leave the option to you. If you feel like walking for around 30 min, you can have access to the Holy Cave, where, standing to the legend, the virgin is said to have appeared. The site has, since then, become an authentic center for pilgrimage and prayer. From there, you will also be able to see the Cross of San Miguel and the wonderful views from this side of the mountain. End your tour listening to the angelic voices of La Escolania de Montserrat, one of the oldest boys' choirs in Europe (subject to seasonal availability). This musical treat will conclude your mystical Montserrat visit.

Joan, our tour guide was wonderful! His knowledge on the history of Barcelona from the drive up was excellent. His knowledge on the history of Monserrat was unbelievable and we were able to experience so much! Joan was an excellent guide and highly recommend this tour and him as a guide as well!

It was a great experience. Javi was an awesome. We had a very mixed aged party from infant to elder and he was attentive and everyone had a great time. One of us was not in the best condition and still had a wonderful time.
