With our guide, you will spend your day exploring the beautiful countryside around Battambang on a bicycle. Weave along the river road while visiting Cambodian families who produce traditional products (such as rice paper and bamboo sticky rice), made in the same way they have been for generations. You will learn first hand about every day life in Cambodia from the families you visit and from our amazing local guides. Highlights: Meet families that make traditional products such as rice paper, dried banana, bamboo sticky rice, fish paste and rice wine. Enjoy seasonal fruits and coconut water. Finish by visiting a memorial site for the victims of the Khmer Rouge.  A portion of your tour fee goes back to the local community and your guide is a local student getting vocational training through Soksabike.

    With our local student guide, you will spend your day exploring the beautiful countryside around Battambang by bicycle. Visit with Cambodian families who produce traditional products (such as rice paper, dried bananas, and bamboo sticky rice) made in the same way they have been for generations. You will learn first hand about every day life in rural communities which make up over 70% of Cambodia’s population. The ride is about 22km. It departs at 7:30am and returns around 12pm. The ride is suitable for all fitness levels.

This was a fantastic half day tour in which we learnt a lot about rural life in Cambodia. We were a group of 16, and the local guides were really excellent in their explanations and in their care for our safety on the bikes. I was initially a bit nervous about jumping on a bike and cycling around Battambang as the traffic is very busy and unpredictable, but the guides were really helpful and stopped traffic when needed for the whole group to be able to cross busy roads together. Not only was the scenery fantastic, and touring via bike made us feel like part of the environment rather than just passing through on a bus or even a tuk-tuk, we were extremely grateful for the hospitality and welcome given by all the families that we visited. It was a privilege for them to share an insight into their lives with us and we left with a much better understanding of the everyday lives of the Cambodian people. This tour was a real highlight of our visit to Cambodia and I would recommend it as a must-do activity for anyone visiting Battambang.

Loved this biking tour! My brother an I ended up getting our own private tour after booking a Small Group Tour because we were there shortly after the Khmer New Year and the company runs multiple groups. We went in the morning and it was perfect. I think we would have really missed out on what Battambang has to offer without this tour. Our guide was sweet, communicative, and amazing. We learned about different local trades and businesses including banana chips, rice wine, fisheries, and bamboo sticky rice. We also visited the memorial for the victims of the Khmer Rouge, which was very emotional but important to honor. Soksabike was something we were looking forward to in our whole trip itinerary and it did not disappoint!

Usually I am not a fan of guided tours, but you would miss something in your trip without this one. Thanks to soksabike you get a good idea of the life in the countryside and some of the many jobs, while enjoying a fun and easy tour on a bike! Our guides « Pala » and Paul were caring, genuine and truly generous in explaining some aspects of the Khmer culture and history. A true and rare glimpse into Cambodia and their people. Thank you for sharing, and keep up this amazing job of yours!
