Bergen, Bergen, Norway Our tour starts in the city of Bergen - the Gateway to the Fjords. The city was founded in 1070 and contains many historical and cultural landmarks. We will pass some of them on our way from the city and also on our return to Bergen.
Sandlivegen 2, 5722 Dalekvam, Norway We move on to Dale, where the famous sweater factory is located – “Dale of Norway”. We can visit the factory outlet and maybe pick up some woolen souvenirs there. 20 minutes
Vossevangen, Vossevangen, Norway We pass through the town of Voss on our way to Gudvangen. The main historical attractions are Vangskyrkja - church from 1277, and the St.Olaf's cross from 1023. We can stop in Voss on our way to the Sognefjord or, alternatively, on our way back to Bergen. 15 minutes
Tvindefossen, Hordaland, Norway We make a stop at Tvindefossen waterfall, located 12 km (7.5 miles) to the north of Voss town center. We can come close this cascading 110 meters (360 ft) tall waterfall. 15 minutes
Stalheimsvegen 131, 5715 Vossestrand, Noorwegen Our next stop is at Stalheim Hotel, an establishment which history is closely related to postal service in Norway and goes back all the way to 1647. The hotel's terrace, at an elevation of 373 meters / 1224 feet ASL, offer a magnificent view of the Nærøydalen valley - a part of the UNESCO World Heritage site. The heritage site consists of 2 fjords - the Nærøyfjord and the Aurlandsfjord - adjacent valleys and surrounding mountains. 25 minutes
Stalheimskleiva, Stalheim, Norway From the hotel's terrace we can see Stalheimskleiva - one the steepest roads on the North with hairpin turns which provide thrilling views of 2 beautiful waterfalls on each side of the road.
Stalheimsfossen, Stalheim, Norway Stalheimsfossen waterfall is one of the 2 waterfalls beneath the hotel. Stalheimsfossen is 126 meter / 413 feet tall. 2 minutes
Sivlefossen, Voss, Norway Sivlefossen waterfall is one of the 2 waterfalls beneath the hotel. Sivlefossen is 142 meter / 466 feet tall. 5 minutes
Gudvangen, Gudvangen, Norway The small village of Gudvangen, in the very end of the Nærøyfjord. This cosy little village, snuggly located under the tallest waterfall in Norway, Kjelfossen (840 meters / 2755 feet), has attracted tourists ever since the 19th century. We recommend taking a 2-hour fjord cruise from Gundangen to Flåm. As this tour is an open schedule tour, the fjord cruise is not included. We will be happy to make suggestions and help you with the booking. Alternatively, we can spend more time in Gudvangen, have lunch and visit the Viking Village. 15 minutes
Njardarheimr, 5747 Gudvangen, Noorwegen Njardarheimr is the name of the Viking Village in Gudvangen. If you decide to spend more time in Gudvangen, we can visit the village with a guided group tour (a private Viking guide can also be arranged for an additional fee), learn about the Viking history, culture and society, and take part in activities like archery and axe throwing. There are also some interesting people to meet: real modern day Vikings who come to live in the Village and engage in their authentic arts and crafts. We recommend planning a stop and spending some time here! 60 minutes
Nærøyfjord, Aurland, Norway The Nærøyfjord is one of the most gorgeous fjords in Norway (and the world!). Its unique and pristine beauty was the reason for including it on the World Heritage list by UNESCO in 2005. We recommend seeing it on a 2-hour fjord cruise aboard a passenger ferry or a private RIB. As this tour is an open schedule tour, the fjord cruise is not included. We can offer several alternatives which are available, help you with purchasing tickets or making a booking. The fjord cruise should be arranged in advance to guarantee the best experience. Alternatively, we can spend more time in Gudvangen and the Viking Village and visit other secluded places other people rarely go to. 15 minutes
Flåm stasjon, Flåm, Norway After leaving Gudvangen - by either ferry, private RIB or car - you come to Flåm, a village located at the very end of the Aurlandsfjord. This busy cruise ship destination clearly stands out from the tranquil Norwegian scenery with its souvenir shops, restaurants and cafés (where we recommend having lunch after the fjord cruise) and a museum dedicated to the famous Flåmsbana railway. 60 minutes
A-Feltvegen 11, 5743 Flåm, Norway For the best experience on this tour we recommend taking the Flåmsbana train from Flåm to Myrdal station in the mountains. Starting from Flåm at the sea level the train takes you up to elevation of 867 meters / 2844 feet ASL through some of the stunning scenery in Norway. As you travel, the lush Flåm valley gradually turns into a canyon and then into a gorge with almost vertical mountain walls. With the help of the engineers' savvy the railroad was constructed to overcome the steep ascend.
In Myrdal we suggest you change trains and travel to Voss, where you car with the driver-guide will pick you up. Unfortunately, the car cannot come to Myrdal, as there are no car road there. Alternatively, you can take the Flåmsbana train back to Flåm and continue by car from there. We will be happy to suggest the alternative that fits you the best.
As this tour is an open schedule tour, the train tickets are not included. We can either help you make a booking or book the tickets ourselves. Flåmsbana is a very popular ride. We recommend securing tickets in advance.
Train tickets are subject to availability. 120 minutes
Stegastein Lookout, Aurlandsvangen, Norway An alternative to Flåmsbana train ride is Stegastein lookout, located at the top of a hairpin turn road overlooking the Aurlandsfjord at 640 meters / 2099 feet above sea level. Wonderful ride and a stunning view! 20 minutes
Infants and small children can ride in a pram or stroller
Public transportation options are available nearby
Specialized infant seats are available
Suitable for all physical fitness levels

The fjord boat ride, waterfall stops, scenic viewpoint, and Flam railway ride provided nature vistas beyond compare! I have never seen such a beautiful area. And, our guide Vlad communicated well with us before our trip in order facilitate all ticket purchases for us and to prioritize what our group most wanted to see. This trip is an MUST Do for anyone visiting the Bergen area!

If only we could give 6-stars!! Our experience with Jandis Tour Company was exceptional from our very first written inquiry through our goodbyes after 2 magnificent days of touring. Jana was incredibly helpful as we worked via email to plan our tours and how they should be arranged. She offered several options, and was willing to help us as much as needed with planning and purchasing accompanying boat/train portions of our trips. She also looked ahead to cruise ship itineraries to help us understand when areas could be busier. Ultimately, we did a Highlights Tour and a Queen of the Fjords tour. We are so happy we planned extra time in Bergen and did both. While both were AMAZING, they were different experiences and we've noted a few considerations below that might help you decide if you have to choose. (Seriously, though, stay an extra day and see more! when will you be back??)
Highlights Tour: experiencing the fjords and landscape from car, boat and train gives this tour a lot of variety and experiencing the Nærøyfjord on a slower, quiet boat was exceptional from our point of view. We were lucky to plan this trip on a Friday when no cruises were in town, so that made it a bit less crowded (it would have certainly been less pleasant for us had the boat/Flamsbana train been packed). This tour had a bit of everything - beautiful waterfalls, varied landscapes (including a breathtaking view from the hotel terrace), great history (via Jana, who was an exceptional guide), and a STUNNING cruise in the fjord. Things to note: for good seats on the Flam train, you need to queue (which means planning to be there at least 30 minutes prior to departure), the boat and train can be crowded (especially if a ship is in town) and you have to weigh the potential to experience the sights with how "private" you want your day and tour to be. For us, the boat trip through the fjord is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that we would absolutely endorse - the scenery changes continuously and the view behind is as stunning as the view ahead. The train was more of a toss up, especially since there are other beautiful waterfalls visible on the road from Flam.
Queen Tour: This is really a waterfall/fjord tour. There were several really great waterfalls that we were able to get super close to (and even one we could walk behind). The landscape is even more varied than the Highlights tour and of course, Jana shared tons of great information about specific sights, the general area, and its history. The ferry ride offers a different perspective and a nice chance to get out in the open air to enjoy a view of the area from the water. To really get the most out of this tour, you should be able to do moderate walking uphill (it's a short but moderate exertion hike to/from several waterfalls and the carvings). This tour is also great if you want a bit of time at the end of the day for other activities (like touring around Bergen).
We couldn't have been happier with our choice of Jandis. We left feeling like we had just spent two days with a friend that wanted us to see and experience everything they love about this amazing place they live. I'll say again - book the extra day! Tamara & Denise
We always double-check the availability with our local partners for each booking. Even though this is usually a swift process, it can take up to 24 hours. Once this process is completed you will receive your voucher or ticket by email. If our local partner is not able to confirm your booking we will offer you the best possible alternative. If the new date and/or time doesn’t fit your itinerary, we will reimburse the full amount paid.
How great that you want to share your experience! Your feedback helps other travelers to make a better choice.
