We met our wonderful guide Giorgio at the designated time and place. After a courtesy wait for late comers we made our way. Giorgio is a lovely guy: kind, helpful, funny and an endless fountain of knowledge. But most importantly he seems genuinely passionate about Berlin and its history. My elderly dad and I thoroughly enjoyed the walk. One note: although the tour is billed as the Festival of Lights walking tour, we only saw 3x installations. It was more about Berlin, and the festival happened to be around us. None the less we enjoyed it.

Original Berlin Walks Tours are definitely a great way to see the city. After taking the evening Berlin Lights Festival tour with Dave, we headed back the next day for the Discover Berlin tour with Kyle. And, then we went back one more time for the Potsdam daytrip tour with Dave as our guide one more time. While the company offers tours in German, they also offer ones in English. Both Kyle and Dave were native English speakers which really helped. Kyle had Scottish and American heritage, and Dave was from Australia. All three of these experiences were informative, well-priced, and worth our time. We had the opportunity to learn a lot about each tour’s topic in a reasonable amount of time. Simply walking passed a building is one thing, but having a knowledgeable guide share the history of what occurred there is a different experience. I would highly recommend taking a tour with this group while you are visiting Berlin. It is very easy. You just show up at the appointed time, pay for your ticket, and away you go. Group sizes on our tours varied from 8 – 20. So, the group can be big, but it was never so big as that you could not ask questions. Plus, we were able to chat with other group members as we walked between the various stops. Socializing with others only added to the overall experience.
