Learn the tumultuous contemporary history of Berlin on a guided walking tour of the city's iconic Third Reich and Cold War sights. See the Brandenburg Gate, Reichstag and Soviet War Memorial. Walk through the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, a poignant dedication to the Jewish victims of the Holocaust/Shoah. Visit the site of Hitler’s Bunker and witness Hermann Göring's enormous Ministry of Aviation, the place where the GDR was founded in 1949. Then go to the site of the former Gestapo and SS HQ, now the site of the Topography of Terror exhibition Learn about the Berlin Wall, built in 1961 and hear details of the almost impenetrable "death strip". See the 200-meter long stretch of the Berlin Wall and view the location where successful escapes took place over the Wall. You'll hear stories about those people who did not make it and what their fates were.. Cian was an exceptional guide. He was able to provide the historical background as we viewed the locations, keeping both the history buff and the tourist enjoying the tour. He made connections with the history both prior and through the present day.
