    The French built Nha Trang Institute of Oceanography in 1923 in Nha Trang, where has the most diverse marine life in Vietnam. The Museum of Oceanography is an inseparable part of the Institute of Oceanography, along with its history of nearly a century of foundation and development. Housed in a grand French-colonial building in southern Nha Trang, this dated museum has 60,000 or so jars of pickled marine specimens, stuffed birds and sea mammals, and displays of local boats and fishing artefacts. There are tanks with reef fish and sharks but the rescued seals and marine turtles are kept in pitifully small enclosures.

We had a good coverage of Nha Trang within the few hours. Good service and info provided by our guide Vicky. Timing were well planned and we managed to get back to the port as per our schedule.

Traveling as a Multi-generation family for the first time to Vietnam and had a wonderful time of this tour. Our cruise had a short port time but our guide “ tinh tinh” managed to hit all the best sites, local market shopping and eating places. In fact- he was one of the reasons our tour was so enjoyable- he provided just enough information about every site and his overall attitude was always positive, energetic and flexible. He tended to the needs of our 80 year old parents as well as 4 kids from 6-13. I appreciated his help finding an ATM so that we could get local currency and his assistance bargaining in the local markets. Mr. Tinh says he is “always happy” and indeed- we all walked away smiling and laughing! Oh- we also booked the private van and the cold cold AC was def worth it.

We had a great time on our tour of Nha Trang. We were picked up from the cruise terminal and taken to all the best spots in Nha Trang. We visited the Nha Tho Nui Cathedral, Hon Chong, Long Son Pagoda, and Po Nagar Towers. After these stops, our guide took us to lunch at a local restaurant. He preordered the meal for us and it was delicious. We tried about 5-6 new dishes and they were all wonderful. We had a great day and would highly recommend this tour.
