Big Island abalone farm is the largest abalone aquaculture farm in the US. We raise "ezo", japanese premium abalone. Our farm sustainably raise premium shellfish. You can learn the background story for abalone, how abalone are reproduced. And also you can touch to live abalone or other sea creatures. Additionally you can taste abalone during the tour.

Carlos was a great tour guide and very knowledgeable about the life of Abalone, sea weed, and much more. The tour was very informative and interesting. The samples at the end were tasty.

The abalone farm tour was extremely interesting. Our tour guide Carlos was excellent - he was very detailed in explaining how they raise the abalone and seaweed, and the life cycle of the abalone. I would highly recommend this tour.

I enjoyed this tour a lot! They had a kama'aina special going and after living in Kona for a few years I was happy I finally made it there. I had seen the TV special with Guy Fieri. Carlos was very friendly and informative. He guided us through the whole process and graciously answered our questions. We were able to hold the abalone, see the entire life cycle, taste the seaweed they are eating, and walk around the farm. We tasted 2 variations at the end of the tour- I was happy to try something new but I am a texture sensitive eater so I will admit I didn't buy abalone or plan to eat them in the future ???? There is so much neat research going in this same area and I was happy to learn about the abalone farm! They even have a food truck with a few options if you aren't able to swing a tour that I would go to if I wasn't a picky eater.
