Wonderful collection of both ancient and contemporary Polynesian artifacts. Most of Bishop hall is dedicated to Hawaiian history, in particular the Ka Mahama dynasty, but there's plenty of other Polynesian cultures represented as well. The display of contemporary traditional Hawaiian crafts persons and artists was well done with helpful videos to accompany them. We briefly visited the other halls, back yard adventures and the Lalo science and conservation exhibits were geared to the school trip crowd. Unless your visiting with grade school age kids I would recommend skipping those.

Went with my Hawaiian husband. Meant a lot more to me as i am widely read in Hawaiian history. Otherwise, i think it would be overwhelming with all the names, although I’m sure that a guided tour would make it interesting even to outsiders.
