Let's explore one of Costa Rica’s best kept waterfall secrets. This tour begins with a very scenic drive along the coastline. Upon arrival, our short hike down to the river begins! As soon as we will enter the canyon you will come to face with a majestic 150-foot waterfall. We will guide you to the many different features Eco Chontales has to offer - multiple calm swimming holes, areas perfect for taking photos, a mini waterslide & even places to jump from! There is a small jump (6 feet), but also a larger one for the thrill-seeker - 9 meter (28 feet +/-)!
After we have explored all the features of the waterfall, we will create a mini on the spot-spa and turn into Avatars. We will apply mineral rich naturally colored blue clay on our bodies. This “rainforest clay” we provide is sourced near fresh spring water and is renowned for its healthy skin care properties.
To finalize our experience, we will get to enjoy a delicious, freshly cooked Costa Rican meal at the river restaurant.

This should be on your itinerary, if it’s not! We can’t say enough great things about our guides Damien and Roberto from pick up to drop off. They are both super knowledgeable and informative. Our teenagers loved them and want to do more tours with them! They made our experience Pura Vida! They even gave us great restaurant recommendations!
Advice: wear water shoes with good grips!

Where to begin? This is a magical, relaxing chill day where you can swim behind a waterfall, jump into natural pools, float around in a beautiful natural setting, get a blue clay facial and have a delicious lunch. The ride out there and back was part of the fun thanks to the excellent driving of Carlos and the information from Maki and Conner. It felt like a conversation, not just someone reading from a script. And the waterfall...You know those magical waterfalls you see in movies? They are real. And you can swim behind them. It was the dry season and we were told how much more impressive it gets during the rainy season but it took my breath away. There is the perfect place to jump into one of the pools. High enough to give me, a woman in her sixties, a bit of a thrill without the fear of a heart attack. It's perfect for us young-at-heart folks and children but everyone else loved it as well. The blue clay facial was a nice touch and added more to the experience than I thought it would. It was fun sitting in the sun waiting for it to dry and hey, I look a good six hours younger. (You will get why I said that when you go on the tour.) The walk to the river and back is so breathtaking that I had to remind myself not to take it for granted. Every turn you made, there was something beautiful or interesting to see. Who knew Spearmint grew wild in the jungle with leaves bigger than my head and that wild ginger just hangs out by the river? I am still impressed with the lunch. A tiny kitchen in the middle of the jungle where they had to pack in all the supplies and it was delicious. Not to take away anything from the rest of the tour but I would take it again just for the food. It was that good. I had the fish and I highly recommend it. This was the second tour I took with Paddle 9 and I am so impressed with their dedication to and passion for excellence. And how much they love their jobs. They make you feel like a cherished member of their family. Just take the tour, and you will have no regrets. I loved every second of it.

Day started with a pick-up at our hotel in Manuel Antonio. Our guides, Roberto and Odren (sp.?) were extremely nice and knowledgeable about the flora/fauna and history of the area, pointing out many things in our drive there. Last half hour of the drive was very bumpy, but the scenery was incredible. Our daughter who is prone to car sickness, took one “Less Drowsy Dramamine” before we left and was fine. Van had AC so that really helped. When we got there, about a 15 min. hike down to the waterfall. Looked like a scene out of Jurassic Park. We swam in the pool around the waterfall and guides helped us get close to the falls. They took some great family pictures for us and cut fresh watermelon and pineapple for a snack. There was a second pool with a 6 foot jump that we all tried, and another 30 foot jump, that we chickened out of. Family run restaurant right next to the waterfall that was very good and offered vegetarian and vegan option. Thanks to the amazing scenery and guides, was a very memorable experience!
