On our essential Free Tour we offer you an extensive historical and cultural introduction to our beautiful city. During the tour you will walk through the streets of Candelaria, La Concordia and Las Aguas. During the tour we will talk about the beginnings of the capital, the indigenous tribe that inhabited Bogota, the legend of El Dorado, the colonization, the independence of Colombia, the most important events for the country as the Bogotazo and the violence in Colombia; we will talk about important celebrities such as Fernando Botero and Gabriel García Márquez; besides knowing how a Colombian lives in Bogota, education, art, gastronomy, architecture and different essential tricks for the stay in the capital. This walk will last approximately 3 hours. *The tour will not be cancelled due to bad weather, so we recommend bringing an umbrella.

    This square is characterized by its emerald market. At this stop, you will know what we are talking about and perhaps see how we market this somewhat informal stone. There in our final stop, we will give you recommendations for your stay in our beautiful city and we will recommend which restaurants to visit.

As someone with a passing interest in history, Paola F presented an excellent and engaging tour. While I thought 3 hours seemed like a lot, Paola did a nice job of style and substance. She blended walking sitting, talking, facts, stories and even gave the much enjoyed appreciated stop a coffee and bathroom break. I went away with a greater appreciation of Colombia’s tumultuous history underlined with a sense of hope for the future and a recognition of the great advances that have been made in the last 30 years. Don’t forget to tip!
