Great snorkeling experience. Glass bottom was clear and a neat, unique addition to the typical snorkeling excursion. Very friendly and helpful guides. They even let us snorkel a few minutes beyond our allotted time, as they said because we were having such a good time. Kim was great interacting with our kids!
They take you to Klein Bonaire - an uninhabited island very close to Bonaire. there is a reef right off a section of beach at Klein Bonaire where they take you to snorkel. If you’re not into snorkeling, you can go check out the beach. Not much depth between the waterline and the shrubbery, but beautiful soft sand. And if you’re not going to swim, which you have to do a little bit of to get onto the beach, then you can stay in the boat and enjoy the glass bottom views for longer.
Everything is beautiful. Even the views of Bonaire on the boat.
In sum, there was something for everyone in our family, which was important for us because we were traveling with young children and elderly folks. They accommodate young children, which most snorkel companies do not. And we were able to go together as a family (10 total) without anyone else, an added perk for sure.
Now, a couple of minor logistical issues that caused a little deduction to my rating, though I’d still give 4.5 stars if I could, and I’m a tough grader…..
No extras are provided (juice/snacks or other bells and whistles). But honestly they’re not needed, as the experience stands on its own. Just make sure you bring some water/snacks.
We booked directly with them rather than through the cruise to avoid the cruise markup, and because the excursion Eye Sea offered through the cruise ship did not include snorkeling (just included the glass bottom tour). Perhaps if you book through the cruise a shuttle is included. But if not and you’re having to figure out transportation, try to determine exactly where you’re going.
When I asked them for an address where to go, they simply told me “the harbor”. But the taxi drivers from and to the cruise port were a bit confused by this… they dropped us off/ picked us up at the harbor inn next door to the actual marina, where you're supposed to enter. The actual marina next door has a small circular drive where the marina entrance is. It doesn't look like much from the road, and there isn’t a sign for Eye Sea posted to let you know you’re in the right place or where to go.
However, in fairness, Eye Sea called in a taxi for us when our excursion was over, as we had not made arrangements in advance. So the fact that we had a taxi at all (confused or not) was due to Eye Sea.
We also were unable to confirm our booking with Eye Sea until 1-2 weeks prior to our cruise. But that may again be because we booked directly (and informally via email) rather than through the cruise.
Just not enough details and timely follow up in the booking process for us. Until we showed up and found them, we were unsure exactly what was awaiting us. But we are admittedly "type A" Americans...
Again, these turned out to be minor/inconsequential issues, especially because we found their rates to be reasonable.
Overall great fun, highly recommended!!!
