Lukomir is the highest and most isolated village in Bosnia. This hike is also the most popular hike in the country. And for a good reason. It offers all: amazing views, long walks, culture, history and legends. This is the most popular one day trip from Sarajevo. We start our tour on the southern slopes of Bjelašnica mountain, from medieval Umoljani village. We will make a short stop on ancient necropolis at Dolovi, and then continue towards Umoljani. We will then pass through Gradina - highland summer village, and go to Studeni Potok stream. On the way, we will visit 40-meter Peruće Waterfall before continuing to Lukomir. Our last stop - Lukomir village. It lives the same life for more than 600 years, Bosnia’s highest and most isolated mountain village. On the edge of the village you will be treated to a breathtaking view of Rakitnica Canyon. We will have traditional homemade lunch prepared by our hosts. You will also have the opportunity to purchase local handcrafts

This all-day hike was a terrific experience. You can tell how much guides care about the experience and sharing that with the guests. We started our hike with an hour long drive to the village of Umoljani where we were greeted with locals selling their homemade products. I bought a jar of terrific raw local honey and we embarked on our hike. About 3 hours later we reached the top which offered terrific views. Then, 30 minutes later we descended into Lukomir which was thee highlight of the visit. Here, we had lunch - local Bosnian pita, juice, yogurt, cheese, and bread. Our guide was gracious enough to bring hurmasice - a traditional Bosnian dessert that his grandmother made! After a brief tour of the village we continued on our path for about another 2.5 hours making our way back to the car. Everywhere we looked offered beautiful views and foliage. Don't miss this unique opportunity to travel in time and experience traditional Bosnian village life!

Absolutely worth it. Really lucky as the weather was nice. Our guide Mirza was fun and professional. He told us a lot of stories about local history and culture on the way to the mountain so the drive was never boring. The hike was not as exhausting as I thought. The view was breathtaking - I could only imagine how wonderful it would be when snowing. I would highly recommend this tour if you are up for a little challenge.
