The River of Golden Dreams is a summertime classic. Our guides will teach you paddling skills and techniques as you begin your adventure paddling across the historic Alta Lake. You will paddle through flowing lilies and around bends of overhanging greenery as you learn about Whistler's history, flora and fauna. Water levels are always changing and this tour is always an adventure, be it fast moving water in the spring or obstacles like beaver dams and a portage in late summer. Duration: 3 Hours round trip Ability: Moderate level of fitness required. Must be able to swim. Minimum age to participate: 6+

  • Travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness
  • All children (under 19) must be accompanied by an adult. Minimum age to participate is 6 years of age.
  • ALL participants must be able to swim.
  • Operates in all weather conditions, please dress appropriately.
  • It is mandatory for all tour participants to sign a Release of Liability and Waiver Form. Any participants under the age of 19 must have a parent or legal guardian present to sign on their behalf.
  • Language: a conversational level of English is required to safely participate in Canoe tours
  • 2 capable and strong paddlers required for each canoe. Please contact us if you would like to be in a canoe with a guide.
You can cancel up to 24 hours in advance of the experience for a full refund.
  • For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.
  • If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
  • Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.
  • Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.
  • This experience requires a minimum number of travelers. If it’s canceled because the minimum isn’t met, you’ll be offered a different date/experience or a full refund.

The trip was awesome. George and Eli were excellent- in answer to the “is it for me”? question? I think they could make it that for pretty much anyone that was interested to take the tour. They combined skill, safety but encouragement to make sure you give it a shot. Fabulous combination of lake, narrow creek, wider creek, with a few challenges - loads of chances to learn to navigate the canoe without anything worse than colliding with some over hanging bushes. Loads of fun and finished with a real buzz and sense of achievement in such a beautiful environment.

The tour was fantastic and our guides, Eli and George were professional, helpful, patient and good fun. From the very start of learning how to control the canoe through crossing Alta lake to the often narrow river everything was really enjoyable. Crossing some beaver dams was a little challenging but also good fun. Once we got the hang of steering the paddle was pretty easy. The length of time seemed just right and I would thoroughly recommend the tour for anyone, even with no experience. The weather wasn’t great on the day but it really made no difference so if you’re looking for an activity on a less than perfect weather day this is it. Cannot recommend the tour enough and would happily do it again.

We had the best time canoeing on River of Golden Dreams. Eli and George were fantastic tour guides, teaching us how to canoe, guiding us through tight areas of the river and keeping it fun! Would 100% recommend for the future and would love to come back.
