You’ll learn about the Mummy of Katebet, the Lewis Chessmen, and the Rosetta Stone – the actual rock, not the language learning program.     After a break for lunch, learn about the master painters whose names fill the halls of the National Gallery. You’ve heard of Seurat and da Vinci, but what do you really know about them? Learn about the painters behind the paintings as we browse our favorite works by other masters like Botticelli, Monet, Rembrandt, and Vermeer. If none of those names mean anything to you, your guide will make sure that changes by the end of the tour. The National Gallery houses paintings dating back to the 1300s all the way up through the 1900s, so there is no shortage of choice. Visit Jan van Eyck’s “The Arnolfini Portrait” or something more familiar like Van Gogh’s “Sunflowers” to understand the full scope of work on display. During your tour, you'll be arm with the essential information and history needed to appreciate the more than 2300 paintings on display at one of the world’s most visited museums.

Becky was wonderful. She met us where we expected. She had tickets and line information down which made it easy to enter the museum. She was a historian who gave us the historical context and her current knowledge of the present situations with many of the artifacts in the museum, without adding a political spin to things. She made sure we got to the Rosetta Stone first for pictures before the crowd. Just a delight. I cannot recommend Becky highly enough, a lovely host for the UK in general let alone the museum.

We really enjoyed our tour guide Stef. She was very knowledgeable and also added a touch of entertainment by telling stories that you wouldn’t find in most books about the museum. I would highly recommend her as a tour guide. She was fantastic.

Our guide (Matilda) was terrific. She was knowledgeable and enthusiastic. She gave me a much better view and understanding of the collection as she focused on particular items and gave us the background. I got much more out of the visit going with her than I would have by going by myself.
