Throughout our history, the Bronx Zoo has been an urban oasis, a place for New Yorkers and visitors from around the globe to escape the concrete jungle and experience the awe and beauty of animals and the natural world.
This spring, your family can explore the all-new Animal Chronicles, a walking trail of more than a quarter mile, featuring immersive eco-sculptures that showcase key achievements in the Bronx Zoo’s history of saving animal species and connecting New Yorkers to wildlife.
We are committed to providing safe and healthy experiences for our community. Changes to exhibits and park operations will happen. We will provide advance notice, when possible, but adjustments may also be due to unforeseen conditions.
Thank you for understanding if some exhibits/animals are not available on the day you choose to visit.

The zoo itself has been a dream for my son since he watched the zoo for the first time. His birthday was this weekend so I finally got him there. Everything was fine and I understood from weather reasons that animals were not all out. However they had things that were closed online but it did not actually represent the closures. Except for one food and gift shop , everything else was closed. There were many indoor animal exhibits so most of the the animals were out, except for the red pandas and that was what really broke my son's heart since it is favorite, there was not even a sign saying it was closed or why. These are known cold weather animal so that was sad for us all. We skipped the lions since they were noted to be weather permitting but that was not known till we got there. I know winter is colder but it would be nice to give a list of animals not out in the winter and state that it's mostly closed down. Highlight for me was the giraffe indoor area! I wouldn't pay to go in the winter at all, but overall I would recommend the zoo in the other seasons. It's pretty and a good walk.
