The first day you will stand at Tyne Cot Military Cemetery, Passendale, Crest Farm, Essex Farm and at the Menin Gate. The second day you will stand in one of the Tunnels at Vimy Ridge, see the Memorial, in Courcelette and Thiepval At Lochnagar Crater and you will visit the battlefield and the Beaumont Hamel Memorial Park.

    You will stand on the main square, seeing the Cloth Hall, the Cathedral and many other nice buildings. You can spend some free time in town before attending the Last Post.

    You will stand under the Menin Gate to attend the Last Post. After the service I will bring you back to your hotel.

  • Canadian National Vimy Memorial, Givenchy-en-Gohelle, France
    Leaving your hotel towards Vimy Ridge where you will walk in the German and Canadian trenches. You will go down in the Grange Tunnel where Canadians stood hours before the assaulst on 9 April 1917, having a look at the newly build visitor centre before going to the Memorial on ridge 145. You will read the 11 285 names of Canadian soldiers remebered on the Memorial, have a view on the Douai Plain.

    You will stand near the Caribu, see the preserved battlefield where New Foundland troops suffered a large number of casualties. Walk along the "Danger Tree", the Y Ravine, the 51st Highland Division Memorial and see the Visitor Centre before heading back to your hotel.

We took the train from Paris to Lille where we met Claude for the first time. Right from our first meeting we knew we had the right person. Our group consisted of four, ranging from 15 to 69 years old. Claude easily related to all of the group. We had taken Claude's advice on where to stay for our tour - best decision we made, next to hiring Claude that is. He was on time every day, adjusted the tour to meet a special interest we had. He made everything easy. Claude's knowledge of the First World War was truly outstanding. I consider myself to be fairly knowledgeable about the First World War but I learnt so much more from Claude. While the tour was primarily to see Canadian war sites, to make them more meaningful we visited Australian and French sites as well as events at those sites impacted on the Canadians. It added so much more to the tour. Thank you. A special treat were the local pubs that Claude took us to for lunches. Little out of the way places that we would have never found on our own. The food was fabulous, friendly staff and they were easily able to meet the diet restrictions of our group. Highly recommend Claude if you are in the area and especially if you have an interest in the First World War battle sites and cemeteries. You will not be disappointed. Claude our family thanks you for a wonderful tour - you are truly amazing.

I booked this private tour through Expedia and received confirmation and vouchers . All I had to do was email Claude to confirm hotel pick up. I was now ready to book my hotel and train tickets. I’m so glad I didn’t because I received an email from Claude that he doubled book the dates and can’t except my booking. Well that was extremely disappointing because I couldn’t locate another tour from Brugge. I got a refund within 7 days but I was mad , I had to rearrange my whole vacation because of his unorganized behavior. Do not book with Battlefield experience. Buyer beware!
