I would strongly recommend that you visit this place. It is so very different from any synagogue I’ve visited in other places as it’s more like going into a Catholic Church. You pay to get in, but the guide is free and ours was excellent. He told us the full background of not only the building and why it is as it is, but Jews in Budapest (a different t sect that is unique to Hungary). The memorial to all the families killed during WW 2 is amazing, very beautiful and such a clever design. Our guide told us too about the Jewish population in Budapest during WW2. There is an interesting extra display in the basement of the ghetto in Budapest. This visit was so much more than we were expecting and well worth adding to your itinerary. We were in there about 1 and a half hours
