We had such an amazing trip made possible by a team of wonderful, professional people. We booked our trip with Nile Cruisers Egypt which coordinated airport pick-up, hotel stay in Egypt, local flights from/to Cairo to start our Nile Sail Boat trip on the Sonesta Dahabiya Amirat, and tour guides along the way.
For our first day, we visited the Egyptian National Museum in Cairo, the Giza pyramids, and the Sphinx. Our tour guide was Gigi. She was very knowledgeable, friendly, fun, easy to get along with, and spoke great English. We also added the new museum to our itinerary for the day, and Gigi was more than happy to be our guide there as well. She made sure we got the most out of our experience.
Next day, we were supposed to fly out to Luxor, however, I got very sick (24 hr bug) and was unable to fly out the next morning. We reached out to the team, and they were extremely helpful and accommodating. They extended our hotel room a day, then arranged for a later flight that evening which I was able to make. This was amazing as we didn’t miss anything and were able to continue on our adventure.
The sail boat was out of this world. Although we arrived late in the evening, the manager Yasser and the crew greeted us, and they made sure to have dinner for us in the room. Maybe due to low tourism at this time of year (in January, but maybe too soon after holidays, school back in session, etc. – but for weatherwise, I would recommend doing it this time of year), we were the only couple on board! It was like having our own personal yacht!
The sailboat has 7 rooms which are decorated beautifully; it made me feel that I am on the Oriental Express. From the copper sink to rugs on the floor, it was incredibly well done. The room had two twin beds which they put together for us. Very comfortable, firm mattresses, the pillows were good, there were a couple of robes in the room along with beach towels. The bathrooms were fully stocked with personal care items (no conditioner, but everything else), and the water pressure was amazing!
The Temples we visited, Valley of the Kings, Valley of the Queens, the Nile River, the museums in Cairo, the Giza pyramids, and the Sphinx – trip of a lifetime! So much culture, delicious food, and the friendliest, warmest people!

A truly unforgettable trip.
My wife and I saw the Pyramids for the first time, were astonished by the Karnak & Luxor Temples, the Valley of the Kinds, and loved being on the water. We mixed in a short sailing excursion, along with chances to see the Nubian village and the botanical garden island in Aswan.
We love Egypt -- and we were sad to have to head home.
Special thanks go to the people who made it possible. Our guide Gigi in Cairo was kind, smart, and on our side -- a real Egyptologist and a gem of a human. Our guide Hamdy in Aswan and Luxor was wonderfully enthusiastic about the history and about his homeland.
The trip started with our communications with Mariam. She was newer to the team, and she worked terrifically hard to resolve some tricky circumstances. Her colleague Henda is an obviously skilled professional.
Overall, we are grateful to their team for helping us have a trip of a lifetime.
Thank you.
