Forget the tourist bazaar of Khan-el-Khalili where high-pressured sales is the name of the game. On our daily small-group Cairo food tour, you'll be lead around the backstreets of Old Cairo diving in and our of humble eateries that have been serving locals for generations. Come hungry because there are plenty of things to try along the way. Expect smoky charcoal-grilled koftas, pickled vegetables from a two century all factory, fateer pastries and piquant spiced kushari. There's fava bean falafels (quite different from their Middle-Eastern counterparts) and zesty aubergines, plump crisp-fried shrimps and freshly baked flat breads. There's coffee roasters and slow-cooked lamb among many more. This is more than just a food tour though. It's a cultural lesson, it's a journey through the backstreets of Old Cairo, places that you'd just never find alone.

Absolutely adored this food tour of Cairo! Our guide Mona was such a delight; a well-travelled, educated, incredible Egyptian that clearly enjoyed sharing her culture and love of food with us. From taking us around to the favourite local haunts, to the more obscure places that we would never would have found without her! Like, I'm talking we went to a pickle place, where their sole job was just to pickle things. It was such an awesome experience and 100% there is no way we could ever have done that (or even known to try it) without going along on this trip. Mona showed us many places, with interesting walks in between each stop so that we had a chance to digest and take in the streets of Cairo. She listened to our interests and food preferences and adjusted accordingly. We had such a great night out with her and were sad (albeit very full) when it ended. You should definitely come hungry because you will be feasting all night long ;) Don't hesitate, book this trip, I'll be recommending it to all my friends!

We loved our tour with Seham! A true authentic food experience where the locals eat. The food was delicious, and Seham was so knowledgeable and kind. We would recommend this to any adventurous eaters looking to get off the main tourist track. We left very full and happy!

Everything about this experience was exceptional. The write up was intriguing and so we signed up hoping for the best and it definitely exceeded expectations. From the moment we met Seham it was a magical tour - experiencing Cairo on Friday when locals were shopping in the “souk” was a plus. Not only did we learn about all the tasty treats we ate - which were many! - Sedham shared with us local history, what was going on around us all while guiding us through the street mazes of Cairo. And finally to top off our spectacular evening she shared with us the cultural importance of Ramadan and how Egyptian families prepared with their shopping and food. It was not a tour rather a cultural food experience that my family will cherish for a lifetime - shukran (شكرا) Sedham!!
