I tend to gravitate towards skepticism of the reviews. However we took a leap of faith, and I am so glad that we did. Cannot say enough about the tour. Our route took us from our hotel in Hurghata, to Luxor, through the Giza Pyramids, the (Old) Museum of Egypt, the Kings Valley & Tombs of the Pharoahs. It culminated in a sleeper train back to Hurghada.
Sharm-Club did an outstanding job taking care of us in EVERY way, even during Ramadan. Regular phone calls from great English Speaking Representatives kept us fully aware of our progress. Our guides were attentive to our needs (water, Heat, navigating with safety!!) and were knowledgeable, articulate, and client focused.
The government of Egypt sent an armed escort in full suit and tie along with our Van. They are serious about safety, and make sure that there is no funny business at the check points. At no time did we feel uncomfortable about our journey, or our safety.
Day One: Our guide was Ashraf - Very sharp. Knows his history. Able to articulate English with strong understanding of our vocabulary. Commanding historical comprehension, and gave loads of good information on navigating the locals. He took us through Hatshepsut Temple, The Tombs of the Pharoahs, the Karnak Complex, and so much more. If you are a history nerd you will get a ton of perspective from him. He speaks rapidly - the man is a veritable encyclopedia of knowledge and is well suited to give people a maximum amount of information while helping people without a degree in Egyptology understand the sheer Archaeological value of what is presented in the tours.
Day Two: our guide was Sherif- Sherif is a bit melodramatic, but it adds to his style. Also fairly decent in terms of English, he preferred to add artistic flair to his presentations. He was very considerate of our needs, and purchased bottled water to make sure that we were refreshed. We did camels around the Pyramids, which my teenage son Thoroughly enjoyed!
He helped us to navigate the “pushers” - natives who will try to sell you almost anything, and don’t take no for an answer!
Tons of photographic opportunities. (See below.)
Finally, the sleeper train! This was SO MUCH better than a bus!! We had our own room, with reasonably comfortable train ride that one could sleep in their own environment, without the discomforts of being crammed together.
