    Today meet your guide at your hotel, and head toward the Pyramids of Cheops, Chephren, and Mykerinus and discover the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and the only one to remain largely intact. Egyptologists believe the Pyramid of Cheops (also known as the Great Pyramid of Giza) was built as a tomb for the Egyptian Pharaoh Khofu and constructed over a 14 to 20-year period in 2560 BC.

  • Great Sphinx, Giza, Egypt
    Afterwards, continue on toward the Great Sphinx. The Sphinx has the head of a pharaoh with a lion's body and dates back to the time of Chephren. This sphinx was made to guard the pyramids of King Chefren. Next, visit the Valley Temple which belonged to the Pyramids of Chephren. The temple acted as a place for the purification and mummification process of the king before burial.

We had a great time visiting the pyramids of Giza with our tour guide Wael. He is a very knowledgeable guide, took the time to answer our questions, and kindly accepted to delay the tour starting time to accommodate us. The half day tour consisted of walking around the main Giza pyramids, going for a short camel ride and seeing the Sphinx up close, before heading for lunch (koshari and falafel were the available options). You’re in safe hands with Wael
