It consists of two lakes connected by Egypt's only waterfall. It was designated as a Protected Area in 1989 to protect the area's biological, geological and cultural resources. The Protected Area covers 1759 km2 in the southern part of El-Fayoum. The waterfalls are one of the best known attractions in Wadi El- Rayan Protected Area. The area conserves large expanses of desert containing a variety of landscapes and formations. Rare and fascinating wild life is found in the desert of Wadi El- Rayan along with fossils of creatures of past epochs and cultural heritage sites from ancient civilizations.

    then we will ride Jeep 4 by 4 to visit Whale valley .Wadi Al-Hitan, Whale Valley, in the Western Desert of Egypt, contains invaluable fossil remains of the earliest, and now extinct, suborder of whales, Archaeoceti. These fossils represent one of the major stories of evolution: the emergence of the whale as an ocean-going mammal from a previous life as a land-based animal. This is the most important site in the world for the demonstration of this stage of evolution. It portrays vividly the form and life of these whales during their transition. The number, concentration and quality of such fossils here is unique, as is their accessibility and setting in an attractive and protected landscape. The fossils of Al-Hitan show the youngest archaeocetes, in the last stages of losing their hind limbs. Other fossil material in the site makes it possible to reconstruct the surrounding environmental and ecological conditions of the time. then drive back to your hotel.

Eslam was an excellent guide. I had always wanted to see Wadi Al-Hitan, the valley of the whales, and he was a ton of fun and always checking in on my needs or answering my questions. I had a great time and would use this company again if I had had more time in Egypt!

Nous avons été ravis de notre journée dans le désert et particulièrement de la visite chaleureuse avec Esslam. Ponctuel, il a su contribuer à rendre cette journée inoubliable grâce à sa discussion et à ses talents de photographe. En effet si vous avez la chance de parler un peu avec lui et du vous intéresser à la culture, Esslam se fera un plaisir de vous raconter des anecdotes, de vous emmener dans des lieux magiques et de vous faire bénéficier de ses connaissances sur la spiritualité egyptienne. Nous avons ainsi pu, durant le trajet, voir la cérémonie du changement de place du musée égyptien. Plein d'humour, il saura vous divertir et vous expliquer les détails sur les lieux que nous avons traversés qui sont juste exceptionnels. Il vous emmènera vers un camp bédouin ou l'accueil est chaleureux et où Mohamed prendra ensuite le volant pour un voyage riche en sensations! Au retour vous bénéficierez d'un succulent repas typique et encore une fois, si vous vous intéressez aux personnes, elles se feront un plaisir de vous répondre en détail. Bravo pour la conduite à Esslam et Mohamed! Enfin nous pouvons garder de très beaux souvenirs de cette excursion grâce aux magnifiques photographies que notre guide a prises avec talent. Bref aucune fausse note pour cette excursion que je recommande vraiment. Nous sommes très contents d'avoir choisi celle ci parmi toutes les autres proposées en Égypte, nous avons du faire un choix et pour nous c'était le bon!
