    Arrive at the UNESCO-listed archaeological site, and spend time exploring what's considered to be one of the most important sites in the Maya world in the company of your guide. Climb to the top of the Mayan Pyramid and visit the "temple of the turtle," where the female religious leaders lived.

  • Cathedral de Merida, Merida, Yucatan, Mexico
    After visiting Uxmal, continue your tour to Merida; the capital of the Yucatan peninsula. Constructed by Spanish conquistadors in the 16th century, the colonial town has colorful historic buildings around a central plaza. Walk along the main street, visit the main square, and see a historic church.  At a nearby cacao museum, learn how the ancient Maya people used cacao beans, and see the preparation of cacao into natural chocolate. Before returning to your Cancun hotel, enjoy a final stop at a traditional Yucatan hacienda; the former house of rich conquistadors and their slaves.

This was one of thee best excursions I have ever had. We were able to climb and touch portions of the site. The guide did an excellent job of informing us of each structure and the role that each one played in the Mayan lifestyle. Showed amazing hospitality of what Mexico has to offer definitely don’t miss out

Viator: your advertisement needs updating urgently.The tour company that was contracted for this tour was great, however the Viator advertisement is misleading. Viator's advertisement stated: Climb to the top of the Pyramid of the Soothsayer for panoramic views of the surrounding countryside - you cannot climb this particular temple at Uxmal.We did climb the stairs of a much smaller temple which was still wonderful, but it was not what I paid for, I wanted to climb the temple of the Soothsayer. Viator's advertisement also stated: Explore a cacao farm - I soon discovered that there are no cacao farms in this part of the Yucatan so we could not go and see one. We did however see the cacao being prepared into the traditional drink at Chocostory and experience a traditional ceremony to Chaak - this was great. The tour operator did their best to satisfy our desires and was very knowledgeable and patient when we wanted to explore Uxmal.
