Snorkeling in Puerto Morelos with a certified guide!

We had such a good time with Ricardo and Luis! We've snorkled a few times in Hawaii and Florida, but the reef in Puerto Morelos was the most beautiful underwater scenery we've ever enjoyed. My husband struggled a little with his mask, but they were patient and helpful so that he stilll got to enjoy some snorkeling. One caution - because this is a protected reef, you can't apply sunscreen when you arrive. They'll give you a rash guard to protect your arms, but you should put sunscreen on the backs of your legs before you get there to give it time to absorb before entering the water. I didn't do that and I regret it, although the tour was totally worth it! Floating above the marine garden was awesome! We saw brilliant fish, plants, conch, coral, and even a big lobster!

Jorge and Alejandro were very accommodating and patient with us as a couple needing help, reassurances with a relatively new experience. Sometimes it was hard to keep up with the leader but when I asked him to slow down a bit, he did. We were the only two on this 10 am tour. I was concerned the wind would increase in the afternoon. The visibility was ok at this hour. Not great but we still saw lots of fish including a 4 ft barracuda. Mother ocean has control of the visibility. Great value for price! Would go again.

We had a lovely time with Nayal, our guide from Lighthouse Tours, who was passionate, knowledgeable and patient. The snorkelling itself lasted just under 2 hours, we saw plenty of local fish and coral but also a fair bit of sea grass - c’est la vie. Permits, ‘cudas and loads of grunts, parrots, clowns and other assorted reef fish. Nice to see such a health coral environment too. Definitely worth it.
