Forced imprisonment! This trip was absolute chaos, chock full of “hurry up and wait” moments that lasted for hours and a majority of the 15-hour day was spent being pitched to buy junk. We probably spent more time at the Mayan version of “South of the Border” than at our main attraction - Chichen Itzá. We were picked up at 7am (missing our hotel’s breakfast) and then waited until about 9:30 for the bus to leave. We had only wanted to go to Chichen Itzá but did a half dozen other things, bringing us to Chichen Itzá at the hottest point of the day. Tour guide at Chichen Itzá was quite rude to the guests - even telling a guest that answered a question correctly that he is smarter than he looks. Our way home was chaotic - we were dropped on the edge of the highway and told to get in a small van, which took us all over Playa Carmen before our final stop - making us miss our dinner reservation for my friend’s 50th birthday celebration - we arrived at the restaurant as they were closing!
