On the way, a visit to the biggest of all 36 discovered underground cities in the region; Derinkuyu Underground City. Arrival at the Ihlara Valley; going down 382 steps into the canyon and stopping at the Belisirma Village after a 3.5km hike. Relax by the river at Belisirma Village where lunch is served. Following lunch continue on to the Selime Monastery. Visit this 13th century monastery carved out of the rock by Christian monks. Stop at Yaprakhisar Panorama for a great photo opporturnity of Selime Monastery featured in the ‘Star Wars’ films. Returned to your hotel at the conclusion of the tour. We booked our tour from USA. Everything went well accept our ballon ride was canceled because of bad weather and we were not informed. Our green tour was amazing.

This was my second time doing this tour and I thoroughly enjoyed our guide, Handan, and seeing the incredible sites again. Handan was informative, fun and very accommodating and our driver, Murat, was excellent as well. Several of the places visited on this tour are quite a ways away from central hotel/pension areas so it is definitely worth the money to be able to check out some really amazing underground and above ground cities. The hike through Ilhara Valley is peaceful and not a strenuous walk (though very dusty!). Overall a great day and a great experience.
