Galerazamba, Galerazamba, Colombia The pink sea is in the department of Bolívar is the town of Galerazamba, which is part of the municipality of Santa Catalina. The place has a great history and its salt flats steal the entire show, as they give the waters forming the intense pink sea.
Without a doubt, the main attraction of this district is its pink sea. This is one of the phenomena that most attracts tourists to Galerazamba. Salinas turn red when the salt is almost ready to explode. Previously it was only a few months, now it is the whole year that they left a swimming pool for tourists.
In recent years the Galerazamba Rincón Mágico campaign was launched. The idea is to recover the splendor of the town and turn it into a destination par excellence of the department of Bolivar. For this, the Loma Arena - Galerazamba road was built and work is being done to recover the beaches that suffer from erosion. 30 minutes

The pickup took too long. Would have been better to pick everyone up at a meeting place vs individual locations.
The museum could have been skipped. It was really small and we didn’t get any info in English. Some enjoyed the interactions with the school kids next door. The salt sea wasn’t pink due to climate conditions. The mud bath itself was a great unique experience and the workers were good at knowing who’s phone to use for pictures. Appreciated having them do that and capturing the memories. There were ladies in the lake to help wash the mud and showers were available. The most chaotic part was the tipping. We were aware we would have to pay/tip for the mud “massage” and cleaning but having everyone hound you was uncomfortable. Some felt they didn’t get enough tips and were yelling at the guides. Later a guide mentioned a bag we were supposed to put it in to be shared amongst the workers but it was too late. Tipping expectations should have been set up front to avoid the chaos.

Enjoyed the history and drive to Totumo Volcano. Nice scenic route and tour guide was multi-lingual. The added review and stop in Galerazamba was informative and relaxing. Arrived on as planned to Totumo and was ushered into a back area to change and lock up personal items. I was very disappointed in that fact we were told we couldn’t wear water shoes or even flip flops and was forced to walk barefoot through the rocky rubble streets leading to the stairs to climb the volcano. Ever more upsetting to learn after climbing to the top, all the sandals/flip flops of the other visiting patrons in a pile. Why we were told we couldn’t wear sandals is beyond me but the climb and descent down from the volcano felt extremely unsafe without shoes of any kind. The volcano experience was amazing and received a nice massage and later a good rinse off at the lake. I will choose to go through another company for this experience in the future.
