Explore with us on a nice hike, the Tropical Dry Forest, just 1 hour away from Cartagena. Discover this amazing ecosystem with incredible species that were able to adapt to the no rain season. Within the fauna, there is a charismatic monkey, the Cotton Top Tamarin, a squirreled – size primate that takes the first place as one of Colombia’s most appealing endemic mammals. Through this unique off-the-beaten-path trip will make you enjoy the flora and fauna of this forest while you´re learning of it, having fun and exercising yourself.     At 6:00 a.m. we drive out of Cartagena towards the Bolivar´s department, in this area, We hike to discover the flora, the fauna of this region. At 12:00 p.m. approx., we have a typical lunch from the area. At 1:00 p.m. approx. we leave the region. Approximate Driving Time: 2,0 hours. Approximate Hiking Time: 3,5 hours.

Our tour guide was Olinto, and he was very friendly, spoke fluent English, and very knowledgeable about the plant life and animal life of the tropical dry forest. We had a great trip and were able to spot some red howler monkeys, as well as several groups of cotton-top tamarins, which was a really cool experience. We learned a lot about the wild life and enjoyed the experience.

We had a fantastic trip. Olinto was a great guide, very knowledgeable, and always looking out for us to have a great and instructive time. Of course, we were also fortunate and saw three different groups of red howling monkeys, plus two other ones. Not to mention dozens of fascinating plants and insects. Amazing and something we will never forget! I have to point out how obliging Olinto was. My girlfriend became sick the day we wanted to do the tour, so he spontaneously offered to do it one day later. She was then able to attend. I cannot stress enough how thankful we are for that! So, I without a doubt highly recommend this trip!

This hike was magical and I highly recommend! Our guide was passionate about his work and it showed. Maybe my favorite experience in Cartegena.
