Explore with us on a nice hike, the Tropical Dry Forest, just 1 hour away from Cartagena. Discover this amazing ecosystem with incredible species that were able to adapt to the no rain season. Within the fauna, there is a charismatic monkey, the Cotton Top Tamarin, a squirreled – size primate that takes the first place as one of Colombia’s most appealing endemic mammals. Through this unique off-the-beaten-path trip will make you enjoy the flora and fauna of this forest while you´re learning of it, having fun and exercising yourself.     At 6:00 a.m. we drive out of Cartagena towards the Bolivar´s department, in this area, We hike to discover the flora, the fauna of this region. At 12:00 p.m. approx., we have a typical lunch from the area. At 1:00 p.m. approx. we leave the region. Approximate Driving Time: 2,0 hours. Approximate Hiking Time: 3,5 hours.

Great way to see area around cartagena, with NO tourists. Enjoyable drive to countryside. Great hike with guides and locals. Very nice guide includes locals for spotting monkeys. Not a difficult hike, but you do need to wear the boots that are provided. We never use rubber boots, but were glad we did. Saw lots of monkeys, butterflies, insects. Great vegetation. Very scenic with diverse topography, road, stream. Highly suggest to do this in the reserve.

Olinto is a passionate person about the tropical dry forest. Thanks to him, I had a wonderful experience. Plants, bugs, birds, monkeys were there and I learned so much from him.

My wife and I took the Howling monkey hike with Olinto.We started are morning with Olinto picking us up on-time at our hotel and taking us to a wonderful town where we ate a delicious Colombian breakfast.We then proceeded to the trail for our hike.Olinto is very knowledgeable of the outdoors he also very passionate of the jungle.He gave a great educational hike from the trees,insect,and plants and of course the different species of monkeys we saw on the hike.Once we finished the hike we then were treated to a lunch which just what we needed after our hike.We can’t say enough about Olinto and how he welcomed us and his kind disposition that we felt incredibly honored to spend the day with him.When we return to Cartagena we will be spending more time with Olinto for sure!
