San Basilio de Palenque was the first free slave town of America and today, intangible heritage of humanity. In this wonderful tour you will know its history, culture and customs. Palenqueros, feel that they are a minimum part of Africa in Colombia. One of the communities that still speaks its own dialect.

    Our driver will pick you up at the hotel (Downtown, Bocagrande, North Zone) to start the tour to Palenque, the first free town in America. The car ride will be approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. Upon arrival there, our Palenquero guide will begin a walking tour of the town, where they will learn about the importance of this heritage site, learn about its customs and culture. In the place, they will have a sample of the musical rhythms and typical drinks. Lunch is included at a local's home.

  • Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.
  • Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.
  • This experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund.
