Castel del Monte, the famous octagonal fortress symbol of the crown of Frederick II of Swabia and magnificent testimony of the reign of one of the most fascinating and mysterious emperor of medieval history. A hour of tour inside the internal and external environments of the Frederick's manor, to better understand what lies behind the apparent simplicity and sobriety of a castle that once looked much richer and more decorated than nowadays. Let yourself be accompanied by our guides, who will reveal details that would otherwise be impossible to notice by simple visitor's eye. The tour is on request and does not include the transfer to Castel del Monte. Meeting point at CAT parking. The entrance ticket to the castle (7 euros) and the cost of the shuttle bus (1 euro) are not included.

This castle is spectacular, definitely worth a visit also because it is all very well organized. You get to a parking area you leave your own and take a shuttle that with only 2 euros takes you to the top and at the end always with the same ticket takes you back down, no waiting. If you go on the first Sunday of the month the visit is free. From the castle you can enjoy an exceptional panoramic view. A unique monument that makes you think that in the past the builders were geniuses with a fabulous talent for having built buildings that nowadays are still standing to defy time.

I suggest (if the temperatures are not prohibitive) to try the experience of walking to reach the castle from the parking lot with the path that crosses the pine forest (even if only on the way back maybe ...). The round trip shuttle however costs 2 Euro and has a frequency of 15 minutes (the bus is quite spacious so you are not crowded). The castle is a memorable experience that must be lived and cannot be told in a review: do not miss it!!!
