Private 6-Hour Tour of Three Etna Wineries with food and wine Tasting

We had a great time at the wineries. It was great to get the different varieties. The first winery had great food paired with the wine. The smaller winery had great variety.

Our 6-hour wine tour through the Mt. Etna region was nothing short of magical. We chose Prestelli Tours based on glowing reviews, but even those didn’t prepare us for the experience we had—it exceeded every expectation. From the start, we were impressed by the flexibility in arranging a convenient pickup near Taormina, since we weren’t staying locally. But the real standout of our day was Massimo, our extraordinary driver. More than just a guide, he was a storyteller, a cultural ambassador, and a new friend. His deep love for Sicily shone through in every shared anecdote and historical detail, adding a rich personal layer to the tour. Connecting with locals is something we deeply value when we travel, and Massimo made that connection effortless and authentic. We visited three distinct and charming wineries, each offering generous pours, fascinating insight into Etna’s volcanic terroir, and a warm welcome. A highlight of the day was the leisurely, homemade lunch served at one of the estates—simple, delicious, and unforgettable. The pace of the tour allowed us to savor every sip and every moment without ever feeling rushed or herded. Compared to the often-commercial tasting experiences in the U.S., this felt refreshingly genuine—like being invited into someone’s home rather than ushered through a polished production. While we did briefly meet other travelers (each group had its own driver), we honestly would have been happy to spend the day with just Massimo! If you’re considering a wine tour near Mt. Etna, don’t hesitate. This is the kind of experience that lingers long after the last glass is empty.

I cannot say enough good things about this experience. Sandra (our guide) and Guissepe (our driver) were knowledgeable, friendly, and fun. All three wineries were completely different, but all uniquely beautiful. It was the full experience, from tasting at a larger producer to tasting at a tiny family owned operation that produces less than 600 bottles per year of some of its offerings. We were fed more than we could handle and the hospitality was amazing! Sandra did a great job explaining the territory and the conversations were illuminating. On top of everything, while we were at our last stop, Giuseppe picked cherries from a friends garden and gave them to us as a parting gift. We won’t forget this experience and recommend it to all.
