Our Pacaya Day tour starts at 7:00 am. Our driver will pick you up at your hotel´s door. The transportation services are private for you and your companion or group. All our vans are A/C, reclinable seats and cooler on board. The drive from Antigua to Pacaya Volcano National Park takes 1:30hrs. The activity difficulty is moderate, taking around two hours. Once you go down, you have free time for refreshments. The detailed itinerary goes as follows: 07:00 am - Antigua hotel pick up 08:30 am - Arrival at Pacaya National Park 08:45 am - Guide meeting and Hiking tour at a place 11:00 am - Arrival to the top and time to enjoy the view 11:30 am - Return to the van 12:30 am - Free time for refreshments (Bottled water and Soda or beer included per person) 01:00 pm - transfer from Pacaya NP to Antigua Guatemala 02:30 pm - Arrival at hotel in Antigua

    Pacaya Volcano in Guatemala is one of the most active volcanoes in Central America. With an altitude of 8300 feet above sea level, the 2-hour hiking is definitely worth the effort. Dry Lava rivers, steam wells, volcanic rocks, and sand will take you into an out-of-this-world experience. Along the hiking, you will also be able to see the surrounding volcanoes. Our well-informed guide will share with you the history and secrets of the Colossus. If you´re lucky, you might have the chance to watch lava flowing down the crater.

Mr. Marlon, our companion for the day, was there on time to take us to our destination where we met our great tour guide who took us through this wonderful journey. Although we didn’t go to the top (not an easy high-altitude hike for old people like us who refused riding horses to help them in climbing the volcano lol), we enjoyed very much the stories our guide shared with us about his family, his culture and the history of the region. As we didn’t go to the top, we had time to go and visit a small ethnic village and explore it by foot.

This is absolutely a must. Everything was perfect. We had a wonderful and knowledgeable driver (Marlon) and a personal volcano guru (Cesar). Both were exceptional. The hike was great, not too hard and well worth it. Lunch (provided) was delicious, and personalized based on our preferences. This company really goes above and beyond to make every moment memorable. Don’t hesitate, book this one.

Osman drove us to Pacaya and back. He arrived had time, offered some excellent sandwiches and drinks and even went out of the way to find us good coffee. Learned a lot from him about life in Guatemala. Our guide Cesar who we met at the site was also very good. One thing to note is to carry cash in case you need a horse for the climb up and down. Overall it was a great trip.
