Our Pacaya Day tour starts at 7:00 am. Our driver will pick you up at your hotel´s door. The transportation services are private for you and your companion or group. All our vans are A/C, reclinable seats and cooler on board. The drive from Antigua to Pacaya Volcano National Park takes 1:30hrs. The activity difficulty is moderate, taking around two hours. Once you go down, you have free time for refreshments. The detailed itinerary goes as follows: 07:00 am - Antigua hotel pick up 08:30 am - Arrival at Pacaya National Park 08:45 am - Guide meeting and Hiking tour at a place 11:00 am - Arrival to the top and time to enjoy the view 11:30 am - Return to the van 12:30 am - Free time for refreshments (Bottled water and Soda or beer included per person) 01:00 pm - transfer from Pacaya NP to Antigua Guatemala 02:30 pm - Arrival at hotel in Antigua

    Pacaya Volcano in Guatemala is one of the most active volcanoes in Central America. With an altitude of 8300 feet above sea level, the 2-hour hiking is definitely worth the effort. Dry Lava rivers, steam wells, volcanic rocks, and sand will take you into an out-of-this-world experience. Along the hiking, you will also be able to see the surrounding volcanoes. Our well-informed guide will share with you the history and secrets of the Colossus. If you´re lucky, you might have the chance to watch lava flowing down the crater.

This was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. Seeing the volcano up close was unreal. The hike was challenging but absolutely beautiful and worth the effort. Our driver, Osman, was punctual and friendly and explained a lot of what we were seeing along the drive. He is also a very skilled driver and we felt very safe. At the volcano, our guide, Cesar, was wonderful. He was patient with us as I struggled to adjust to the altitude and was very understanding when I needed a break. He is also very knowledgeable about the plant life and biodiversity along the trail, so we learned a lot from him. He is genuine and has a kind heart, and honestly by the end of the tour, he felt more like a friend than a guide. The organizer of the tour whom I communicated with through Viator was also very responsive to all my questions and easy to reach. This was a 10/10 experience and if you have any doubt about booking, just do it!

We have hiked Pacaya many times - and this was the best tour we’ve had. Our driver Mario arrived in a nice van 10 minutes before pick up time, had a nice lunch packed and drinks ready in a cooler. Our guide Ceasar was fantastic - very informative, moved at a comfortable pace, was both very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We would highly recommend both taking the trip to Pacaya and our tour company. Everything worked like clockwork, and the provisions were excellent Had a wonderful time, tremendous views, and about the right amount of exercise for a half day hike.

Mr. Marlon, our companion for the day, was there on time to take us to our destination where we met our great tour guide who took us through this wonderful journey. Although we didn’t go to the top (not an easy high-altitude hike for old people like us who refused riding horses to help them in climbing the volcano lol), we enjoyed very much the stories our guide shared with us about his family, his culture and the history of the region. As we didn’t go to the top, we had time to go and visit a small ethnic village and explore it by foot.
